Emmanuel

Overview

Emmanuel, known at varying times as Aspiring Valedictorian, Emperor, Deus ex Emmanuelia and Nerdboy, is the current ruler of most of the known world, as well as the Chosen of Chaos, Champion of Darkness and all around cool guy.

History

Birth and Early Life (8:497-8:510

Emmanuel was born to Lysinda and Morellius, two relatively prominent mages known mostly for their research into Arcane Theory. He was heralded as something of a child prodigy (not uncommon in the Mage States) and was given the best educational resources during his pampered childhood. It was during this period that he was shown to be something of a bastard (again, not uncommon in the Mage States, a society that values sociopathy). Young Emmanuel was fond of performing twisted experiments on the tiny, cowering creatures of the earth and air, and soon discovered much about anatomy and the melting points of various things. Anyhoo, after 13 years of enjoying that, Emmanuel was sent off to Holst Academy, an extremely prodigious School of Magic. At 13, he was among the youngest students ever to attend.

School Days (8:510-8:514)

Emmanuel quickly became a rising star at Holst Academy, academically outperforming all of his peers. With this came something of a bullying problem (bullying meaning attempted murder, this is the Mage States we're talking about). However, when the guilty parties began to disappear with distressing alacrity, Emmanuel became quite popular. By his senior year, he was one of 7 remaining students. By the end of the year, that number was down to 5. Emmanuel was one of them. He used his graduation speech to taunt another student (see Holst Academy for a transcript) and then almost immediately left for greater things in the wide world (ironically, the same thing that Hone did). He was 17.

Building an Empire (8:514-8:515)

Emmanuel left for Polask, an area he had heard was full of suspicious peasants. He had heard correctly. The yokels were quickly subjugated by light shows and lies about Emmanuel controlling their souls, and so Emmanuel set to work constructing a great Mage Tower. Upon its completion, he ordered the King of Polask (doesn't deserve an article really, just a corrupt despot) to abdicate, which he did out of fear. At this point he renamed the land Emmanuelis and became its King, worshiped like a God. Then, the genetic experiments began. Using Warpstone's mutagenic properties, Emmanuel began a number of hideous experiments on the populous, finally creating a huge number of malformed freaks (which he name Orcs to instill fear in his enemies, their actual name is Species #14). He also created an alliance with a hideous Black Dragon, also used in breeding programs. It was around this time Emmanuel first became aware of the soon-to-be Champions of Light. They had slain some of his lieutenants, who were empowered by an ancient curse Emmanuel had discovered (see Darkness, though he was not aware at the time). For further details, see their article, but suffice it to say Emmanuel soon captured Leeroy and the rest of the Champions of Light disappeared into the Temple of the Light. Leeroy and Emmanuel formed something of an alliance, and Leeroy taught Emmanuel Rune Magic and bestowed upon him a number of extremely powerful Rune Tablets. Leeroy was put in charge of research, however around this time Benevolo appeared for reasons unknown and Leeroy turned traitor, to return to the Light Champions with a handy teleport from Benevolo. Soon after, Benevolo, actually the Avatar of Darkness returned to destroy Emmanuel and take over his Empire. After some shrewd negotiation on Emmanuel's part, a deal was brokered. Darkness and Emmanuel would be allies, working together to conquer the world. It was soon after this that Emmanuel sought out more allies, most significantly the Gods of Chaos. The Gods, knowing of the approach of Law, accepted Emmanuel's offer and made him their unanimous Chosen. After that, it was only a matter of time before he crushed Smithmark, The Damien Empire and basically all other resistance.

The Present (8:515)

Emmanuel is currently menaced by the return of the Champions of Light, who have already foiled his negotiations with the Elves (though perhaps not permanently). He is also involved in protracted struggles with the nations of Shen-zen and Mechanus. Still, things are going relatively well for the young Emperor. He controls the entirety of the known world, and he's only 18. Still a virgin though. Haha (At least Hone died a real man!). Also, for more information on the current political happenings in Emmanuel's domain, see Emmanuelis.

However, with the ever-present threat of Law and his power much diminished, Emmanuel decided it was for the best to flee to another dimension as soon as possible. Now, Emmanuel resides in another dimension, perhaps forever, perhaps not. However, Emmanuel left his empire in the hands of Calor, who quickly dissolved the nation. Now, those that once followed Emmanuel are free, free to do whatever they want!

The Alternate Future (8:517ish)

In an The Alternate Future prevented by The Champions of Light, Emmanuel had become a God using the power of The Amulet. He had utterly dominated the known world and was quickly making tracks in the unknown world. His allies were manifold and his only enemy was Law in The Naaran Empire, who still had pretty good odds, actually, but I digress. This future was avoided by the nimble time travel of The Champions of Light, who snagged The Amulet so that Emmanuel couldn't get it.
